What I’m Doing These Days: A Professional Update

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a professional update. Let me remedy that. I’ve got several activities and projects occupying my time and energy these days.

1. I’m speaking on the weekends for churches and other organizations. I’m doing retreats, special events, and interim preaching. You can read more about my upcoming speaking events at my brand new handy-dandy speaker page. I’ve got several dates open in late March and early April. 2. During the week I’m spending most of my time working on a couple of different writing projects. One will hopefully be published later this year. The other will be an extended series of blog posts that will eventually be compiled into an ebook. What am I writing about? Great question, and thanks for asking, but I’m following Don Miller’s advice and choosing to keep it to myself for now.

3. I’ve recently had a couple of conversations with friends who have encouraged me to think about being a preaching coach for other preachers. I’m still not sure what this looks like or how to make it work financially, but I’m exploring it. I’ve got a couple of preachers that call me from time to time to talk about their preaching. Sometimes I help them get unstuck on a particular sermon or I help them map out an upcoming series. I really enjoy it and they keep calling back. So, if you’d like some help with your preaching or public speaking, I’m here to help. If you have any suggestions about a fair and workable business model for such coaching I’d love to hear your ideas.

4. Finally, I’m developing a framework for “organizational wisdom” that can help churches do a better job of discerning and then deciding the next best steps to accomplish their mission. I’ve written a bit about this in a previous post. My hope is to have something to share with churches and their leadership teams soon.
