  1. Nicely done and well said. I’ll be there this Friday, say 6:30, but only if you’re smokin’ the meat.

  2. When I look at Wade when I first met him in grad school and now, I’m pretty sure he’s been smoking something other than meat! So that I am understood correctly, might I add that I pretty much want to smoke whatever he’s having. Looking forward to ISWW!

  3. Great article. Jesus was the example of someone willing to break the mold.

Sorry I totally went off track in my comments in the last post.

I guess I get heated when people imposing law on me. Thanks for the grace that you have in your blog and your comments. I wanted to say that after all the stuff I posted that unity through diversity is more important to me than proving a particular point correct or incorrect.

Your article articulates this and ties the others together. Jesus ate with people who were not generally accepted by the “religious” crowd.

He set the example that we are all different. We all have things that we do not agree on, but why should that stop us from sharing communion together (and I don’t just mean the Lord’s supper, but that is certainly included).

    Thanks Wade.

  4. You’re brillant . . . you are showing that what makes good preaching also makes good writing: telling the truth.

  5. LOVED the fine print!

  6. Wade, the people who have influenced my life the most did so by continually calling me to focus on Jesus. I hear you continuing that call. Thank-you, brother!

    In HIM,
    DU

  7. Greg England says:

Now you’ve gone and reduced the Son of God to drinking a Coke with junior high schoolers. I’m offended! I’m quite certain the drink would have been Dr. Pepper!
    Excellent article!

  8. Heather says:

    Greg E.,

A man after my own heart. He most certainly would have been drinking a Dr. Pepper.

  9. Wade-
You are errily similar to our teaching pastor Donnie Smith- although he does not smoke meats- he loves Dr. Pepper and loves to preach on faith development and male spiriturality. I have a question for you- do you have a Weber Gas grill?

  10. Michael–I have both a weber gas grill and a woodburning smoker. My specialty is smoked chicken, but my skills are getting rusty. It’s been a while since I’ve fired it up. I either need to start using it more or change my bio.

So, what are you thinking?
