Back in the Pool

We’ve been back in town for a week now, but I haven’t opened the blog back up because I’ve been so busy trying to catch up on everything else. I put some very unrealistic pressure on myself the first day or two back. I really thought that after being away for two weeks and not answering emails or doing any kind of paperwork, I would be able to have all the old stuff off my desk and out of my outbox by 5 p.m. ,Tuesday. I didn’t even come close.

All week long I felt like I was running in slow-motion in very loose beach sand. I fought through it though and I think I’m back in rhythm.

We had a great time in Florida. We ate great seafood, we played on the beach, we played in the pool, and we did absolutely nothing at all and felt great about it.

I love seafood, but I hate paying for it. I think I’ve discovered something very important about ordering seafood in a restaurant. If you order a blackened grouper filet entree with a side of steamed veggies and rice pilaf, it is going to cost you somewhere around 18 dollars. If you order a blackened grouper sandwich with fries or slaw, near as I can tell, you get the same filet you get with the entree, sans the rice pilaf and veggies for about 8 dollars. I’m done paying an extra ten dollars for rice and broccoli.

The next six months are going to be busy. The workshop is coming and we’re working through some fairly significant (and difficult) stuff at Garnett. I’m glad I got to take an extended breather.

  1. Welcome back Wade! Glad you had a great time, but we missed sitting at your feet. I hope you can get Greg straightend out pretty quick, but that may be asking too much!

    God bless,
    DU

  2. Life can resume as normal, the stars are aligned and my heart palpatation has ceased. http://www.wadehodges.com is back open for business. All is well in my world…

Wade, welcome back. Any good reading while you were away? Any “Aha!” moments? Glad you enjoyed your break. And there’s NOTHING like fresh seafood. Growing up on the coast, it is HARD to eat seafood inland!

  4. Wade,

Admit – you’re just so overhwelmed at the wealth of wisdom that poured out of me over a seriously large plate of a cajun seafood that you’ve been too astounded to speak.

    What? That’s not it?

  5. Praying hard for you and God’s Church at Garnett. Just remember that it is his and not ours. He’s in control and not us. That’s a relief huh? I’ve really enjoyed the summer working together with you to God’s glory.

  6. Welcome Back! You were missed. I hope that the refreshing break will provide you with inner strength to face your challenges. Stay with Jesus, wherever He takes you.

  7. Glad you’re back and glad you have a good time! That is very important that you got to have some time for you and your family!!!

    Cant want to see ya!

  8. When your sermons’ main focus is on the Kingdom, as good as a preacher you are, did people give you blank looks??? I’ve been wandering lately why The Kingdom has not been a main message of the restoration movement? Let me know if a speaker is desperately needed in a slot at the TSWW.
    PEACE,
