Here are a few books that have introduced me to the concept of “Integral Christianity.” Some of these are pretty challenging reads, so brace yourself. Also, there is an evolutionary assumption behind integral thought. If you’re allergic to the word “evolution” make sure to have some Calamine lotion handy.
Systems-Sensitive Leadership: Empowering Diversity Without Polarizing the Church
While not specifically about Integral Christianity, this book is based on the “Thinking/Behavior Systems” model of Clare Graves, which informs integral theory. A great way to put your toe in the pool.
A Theory of Everything: An Integral Vision for Business, Politics, Science and Spirituality
This is my favorite Ken Wilber book. He writes from a Scientific-Buddhist point of view. I don’t think he’s a big fan of evangelical Christianity.
Integral Spirituality: A Startling New Role for Religion in the Modern and Postmodern World
Another great read from Wilber. Slow going until chapter nine and then BOOM!!!
Integral Christianity: The Spirit’s Call to Evolve
This is basically a restatement of Wilber’s work from a Christian perspective. I don’t agree with everything Smith says about Integral Christianity, but overall it is an endlessly thought-provoking book.
