Out of Touch

I’m as out of touch with this year’s final four teams as I’ve ever been. I watched most of the Floriday/UCLA game last night and that was the most I’ve watched of the tournament so far.  I won’t watch the game tomorrow night as I have a meeting scheduled.

For some reason I haven’t been as plugged into college basketball as I was several years ago. Actually, I haven’t been as plugged into most sports as I once was.  The exception is pro football.  I can’t help but watch the Cowboys.  I’ve been doing it all my life. I hope Romo is doing what he needs to do to recover from the botched hold.

Maybe it’s because we don’t have cable and I don’t get to watch Sportscenter very often that sports isn’t on the top of my mind much anymore.  It may also be because that ever since our sports radio station here in Tulsa stopped carrying the Dan Patrick Show I’ve lost touch with the most interesting personalities and subplots in sports. I still miss my daily dose of Dan. It was good for me.

Anyway–is it too late to pick Florida to win it all?

  1. A little late to pick Florida, but in case word gets to you somehow from here in Idabel, don’t pick Georgetown in the final game. My son came up to me yesterday morning right before church and said, “Dad, you need to go check your computer. There’s a breaking news story online that Ohio State was disqualified from the final game for playing inelgible players! Georgetown will get to play for the championship.” I thought Holy Cow!!! I went around telling everyone what had happened. After church, I went back up to my son and said, “Man, I better go check on that story and see what happened during church.” He had this evil grin and uttered those two words that make you look stupid if you are stupid enough to be sucked into it…..”April Fools!!!” I thought I was smarter than that.

  2. Brad, I don’t know your son, but I like him, he’s funny, and I hope my little boy (1yr) never does something funny like that to me.

  3. Wade – I enjoy reading your thoughts and watching as you pursue a different type of community on earth.

I also do not my “daily dose of Dan” like I once did. You probably know this but I recently discovered his Podcast. It gives you a good twenty minute segment of his show. I think his wit and abilities to interview so well are what I love about him the most.

So, what are you thinking?
